Hi, I’m Maria, a self-taught figurative painter exploring identity, perception and emotional fragmentation through portraiture.
My recent work combines oil painting with glitch aesthetics, visual interference and layered distortions, creating portraits suspended between realism and disruption.
Through fragmented faces and altered imagery, I investigate the fragile boundary between human presence and digital perception.

Maria attended the Liceo Artistico in Sorrento, Italy, before moving abroad in 1997, where she lived and worked for several years while continuing to cultivate her artistic practice.

After returning to Italy, she resumed her research through figurative painting, focusing particularly on portraiture and the study of the human face. Over time, her work evolved from detailed symbolic compositions toward a more contemporary visual language shaped by fragmentation, distortion and glitch aesthetics.

Working primarily with oil painting, Maria explores identity, perception and emotional tension through layered female portraits suspended between realism and visual disruption.

Self-taught through continuous practice and experimentation, she sees artistic growth as an ongoing process of transformation and discovery.

My Work

Experimentation has always been an essential part of my artistic process.
My early works on paper combined charcoal, soft pastels and acrylics, gradually leading me toward oil painting, which has become my primary medium.

Through oil, I explore layered tones, light, shadows and subtle distortions, allowing each portrait to evolve through balance, tension and transformation.
