About me

Hi, I’m Maria, a self-taught painter, I express my art through oil colours, acrylic and dry pastels, I use figurative and surreal styles, creating metaphysical scenarios full of feminine symbolism, my art evokes an introspective journey through realms where fantasy and creativity blend.

In my youth I attended the Liceo Artistico di Sorrento (Italy) later I moved abroad in 1997 where I lived and worked and for several years and cultivated my intrinsic passion for art. 

Upon returning to Italy I resumed my artistic path, studying the features of the human face with various studies and preferring, among the many techniques, soft pastels and oil painting.
 I am an artist who believes in the gradual and constant growth of the craft.
I often feel inspired and guided by an intangible force, almost in symbiosis with the air I breathe while I paint.

Figurative art fascinates me and I find immense pleasure in interpreting it. Although realism influences my work, I am not bound by it’s limitations.
My imagination takes flight, leading me to explore realms where fantasy and creativity intertwine.

My Work

I like experimenting different techniques, my first works are essentially on paper with the use of charcoal and soft pastels sometimes combined with acrylic colors, the transition to other techniques such as oil and acrylic was natural, now I essentially use the oil technique, it highlights my figures with soft tones, each work is always an adventure between lights, shadows and colors to achieve a perfect balance.
